Cody, Mitch & Katie's Visit to Alaska Part 3

Ok! So after getting home from a full day on the Kenai it was a quick turnaround to get ready to leave early the next day. This time, our destination was Tangle Lakes and a roundtrip across the Denali Highway and back home, in two days! We got up there about mid-day, set up camp and quickly went to fishing. It wasn't long and everyone was hooking up on medium sized grayling in the tangle river.

We fished the lake as well with lesser results but some fish none the less. We packed up the next morning and headed for Clearwater Creek. This was suppose to be the crown jewel of the trip. Just a beautiful stream with large grayling, but for some reason or other, it didn't pan out. We all fished pretty hard and although Mitch landed a couple small grayling, no one caught much of anything. The further from the road we hiked the fishing actually got worse, which was very odd. We couldn't raise a fish for nothing. The water was running really high and that may have been the reason but who really knows.

We had ok weather during all days of the trip. It wasn't real warm and the wind blew pretty hard at times but we really didn't get hit with too much rain. Unfortunately the fishing was a bit slow but the scenery and being with family I think made up for that. We all had a great time and I know I was very thankful for the time we got to hang out together! I hope that you guys can make it back maybe this fall for some fantastic Rainbow and Dolly fishing on the Kenai, it's already picking up!
