Roadside Caribou

Along the way

Some more Caribou

Today we spent most the day cleaning out our new place. Our landlord had bought the place for his mother who recently passed away and he hasn't done anything with it and hadn't really planned on renting it out. He found out we were looking for a place and said if we helped him clean it out he'd take $800 off our deposit.! So we jumped at it and had it cleaned out and empty in 3 1/2 hours. He couldn't get someone in to clean the carpets till noon on Monday so we can't really move in until Tuesday cause they won't be dry most likely by Monday night. He's also giving us two weeks free rent.

But Rose and I really excited about moving in, we both really like it and are happy with what we found. It has a single car garage and two bedrooms which are upstairs. The kitchen is pretty big with lots of cupboards and newer appliances. The living room is pretty big and has a gas fireplace. The carpets are newer and in good shape too. The two bedrooms upstairs are linked in the middle with the bathroom and there is a sink on both sides in each bedroom. Each room has a full walk-in closet. There is also a large pantry too with a washer and dryer. Right around the corner from the house is a big lake (Lake Hood) where all the float planes come and go from Anchorage. The main airport is also really close, so when all you guys come to visit, it's only a short walk to the house! Just kidding, we'll come pick you up!

We got our fishing licenses tonight and went and looked at some fly rods and reels. We're going to get all set to go and try and head out and go fishing soon for some Salmon on the Kenai. Our landlord is a huge fisherman and seems like a great guy. He took us out last night and bought Rose and I dinner while we went over paper work for the duplex. He's already given Rose and I a ton of insight and advice on fishing and things to do and places go.

Oh, so Rose got up really early this morning and was in the lobby of our hotel and saw a huge moose walking down the sidewalk of downtown anchorage! She didn't have her camera on her cause it was the last thing she expected she'd see at 5 in the morning!

We also took a drive south last night and went down towards a place called Whittier although we didn't go all the way cause they wanted a $12 toll just to go through the tunnel. We said no thanks, maybe another time. There were some really pretty streams that were just a glacial blue color. We saw Dall sheep up on the hill side, a moose, tons of bald eagles and people on the side of the road dip netting for smelt which was kinda cool.

Anyway, not sure what we're doing tomorrow, we're just kind of waiting to go to work on Monday and get into our place!

There's Dall sheep up there!
