Rose and I took a drive down to the Kenai River Friday night. We found a nice little campground on Skilak Lake that was clean and quiet. The first campground we stopped into was neither. There really wasn't any fishing open yet so we didn't do any. Most everything opens up next Friday. With all the warm weather there's lots of snow melt and the rivers seem to be running pretty high and very swift.
We had a hike planned out that we wanted to do that would take us up high and over look the lake we were on and all the mountains. It was cloudy when we woke up and decided to take a drive instead and explore a little bit and hopefully the clouds would burn off allowing for a better view.
Our hike was 2 miles one way and was pretty uneventful, we saw some cool scenery but absolutely no wildlife.
