Well it went about how I thought it was going to...slow. I knew the fish weren't really in the river yet and that it would probably be slow. We hiked about two miles up the river and it was a fun trip and learned a lot from the guy that took me along. There were a lot of people but nothing even close to what people had told me it would be. There were plenty of places to fish and I worked at it for a while hooking two salmon over several hours.
The guy that went with me tried to teach me the "Kenai Flip", the fishing technique to catching Reds. It took a while to get it down and even at that, I wasn't nearly as proficient as he was. He landed two fish right off and had about 4-5 others on that got off. I hooked two but they are really hard to keep on the line.
We didn't see any bears or any sign of them. It was a good trip and got a little Salmon out of the deal too.
