Fished the Russian today, no fish...

I woke up and drove down early this morning and hiked two miles upriver to a good hole. There was hardly anyone on the river which was nice but kinda eerie and uncomfortable too. As soon as I hit the muddy trail near the campground the first thing I see is a big set of Brown bear tracks. The brush is thick and the trail narrow as you get up river. I had my .44 on my chest and my hands free and constantly looking.

There are a lot of bears on that river and it's definitely uncomfortable when you're all alone near the bears dinner table. But, anyway, I arrived at the spot I wanted to get too and a bunch of guys had come in a different way and were leaving with all their fish. Three other guys were three shy of their limits and as I started fishing they each caught one and then that was it. No more fish were caught or hooked. I bagged it after a good long while, walked back out and went home and hung out with Rose before she had to go to bed.

I can't wait till the Silvers start running, a salmon that will actually bite your fly! I am beginning to hate fishing for Reds, they don't pursue your fly. They will only bite it if it hits them in the face. So when you can't see the fish, it's a lot of luck.

We sure are missing everyone.
